Police arrest suspected robber who targeted Emmarentia hair salon

EMMARENTIA – A suspect was arrested for a business robbery following a police chase on 23 October.

 


A 36-year-old man was arrested for business robbery in Emmarentia on 23 October.

Spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said, “It is alleged that two suspects went to a hair salon in Emmarentia. One of the suspects took out a firearm and started pointing it at victims, demanding cash and cell phones.

“The victims gave the suspects the cash and two cell phones and the suspects went out.

“The victims spotted a police vehicle patrolling in the area and proceeded to inform police that they were robbed.”

Sibeko said police gave chase and one suspect was apprehended while the other got away. A cell phone was also recovered.

The suspect was to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 25 October to answer to charges of robbery.

Station commander at the Parkview Police Station Colonel Theledi Gopane commended the members for a swift arrest. Gopane said that the Parkview police will continue to protect and create a safe environment for residents.
