Gold and silver for the learners of Westdene’s Orban School
WESTDENE – Learners awarded for their creativity and the school celebrates with them.
According to experts art is important for children because it is said to help with their social, mental and emotional development.
Recently, Orban School participated in this year’s National Eisteddfod Art Competition. There they won 48 gold and 25 silver medals as well as a fantastic 31 diploma awards. For the competition, the school submitted over 104 entries.
As stated by parents, creating art may boost young children’s ability to analyse and problem-solve in myriad ways. They also explained that when children experiment with materials, they dabble in science. Most importantly, when children feel good while they are creating, art helps boost self-confidence. Adding to this, children who feel able to experiment and to make mistakes feel free to invent new ways of thinking, which extends well beyond the craft room.
Orban’s young budding artists made their school proud as they let their freedom of expression reign free. The school celebrates the talents of their own and commends all the parents, teachers and learners who made this all possible.
