No injuries in Fairland fire
FAIRLAND – Emergency services were able to contain the fire, no injuries or fatalities reported.
A fire broke out due to an electrical fault in a complex unit on the morning of 22 July.
Emergency services were called to the scene and no injuries were reported. A mother and her two sons were in the unit at the time.
The fire had started in one of the rooms inn which there was a heater. The Fairland CPF Victim Support Unit was also there to counsel the family. Diane Strickett of the CPF unit said, “Luckily the firefighters came quickly and the fire was put out before spreading through the house. We are here to counsel the victims. The mother of the boys was quite traumatised.”
Fairland police spokesperson, Constable Michael Kgatla said the police were at the scene but no case had been opened as the cause of fire was due to an electrical fault.
The mother did not wish to be named or speak to the media. Her two boys were being looked after by a neighbour following the fire.
