Brixton police hunt for murderers

BRIXTON – Police are looking for the suspects that robbed and killed a store customer.

Armed robbery ends with murder after one victim refuses to hand over his valuables.

Brixton police are hard at work to bring justice to those affected by a business robbery that took place on 10 July. According to the spokesperson of the station, Jeanette Backhoff, a supermarket was entered by two armed men and they immediately instructed all those in the store to lay down on their stomachs. The suspects then proceeded to searching the victims.

Backhoff explained how things took a turn for the worse during the robbery. “The owner of the store raised his hands up and told the suspects that they can take all the money out of the cash register. All the customers and the owner of the shop co-operated but according to the victims, one gentleman refused to hand over his valuables and he was shot by one of the suspects.”

The suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle that could not be identified by the victims.

Paramedics were called to the scene to assist the shot victim but unfortunately they couldn’t save him.

Backhoff stated, “The victim was declared dead. It was later found out that he was 25 years old.”

The suspects fled the scene with about R1 000 that was taken from the cash register and an unknown amount of cash and valuables from customers.

A case of business robbery and murder has been opened and investigations are currently under way.

Anyone with information on the incident can call the station on 011 248 5512/551.
