Vuleka School Derby Day

SOPHIATOWN – The schools came together this year to celebrate 30 years at their derby day on their school fields.

Vuleka School held their Annual Derby Day on 11 May, and also celebrated their 30 years in education.

The three Vuleka primary schools and two pre-primary schools from around Johannesburg came together to compete against each other in soccer, netball and chess. The focus for the day was for the learners to be out and have fun, with an element of competition.

This years edition was not just an ordinary Derby Day, Vuleka School also celebrated 30 years in education and the day was started with a birthday celebration by executive head Sanele Majola and deputy chairman Vicky Makhathini who inspired parents and learners.

The parents from each of the schools were challenged at the beginning of year to bake a cake for the day and they did not disappoint, as they all brought differently decorated cakes on the day. The learners participating parents and school staff had fun on the day and can’t wait for next year’s edition.
