Police charge IRS Investigations suspect with common assault

PARKVIEW – Police add assault charges to IRS case.

Police have added additional charges of assault to their IRS Forensic Investigations case.

Parkview Police Station has included a charge of common assault to the already existing intimidation charges on the suspect accused of storming and taking control of the offices of IRS Forensic Investigations in Emmarentia. Spokesperson of the station, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed the charges, “A charge of assault common has been added and investigation is ongoing.”

Police were called to the offices on Barry Hertzog Road on 28 March. According to IRS’s Chad Thomas, a group of 12 armed men stormed their building demanding their firearms and cell phones while threatening and assaulting the staff of IRS. One of the IRS staff managed to contact the police and upon their arrival, the tension between the two parties began to calm down but no arrest was made nor any firearms confiscated.

The station was also served with court papers compelling them to act swiftly on this case. Failure to do so would entitle IRS to approach the High Court to intervene yet again if not satisfied with the police’s action. Sibeko also stated that no arrest have been made and no warrants of arrest have been issued. She stated that they are still investigating the case.
