LINDEN – Linden police arrested 197 suspects in March.


Linden police are celebrating the arrests of 197 suspects in March.

According to Linden Police Station spokesperson Constable Takalani Matumba, the arrests included the arrest of illegal immigrants, drunk drivers, thieves and fraudsters.

Other crimes the police arrested suspects for included assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, attempted rape, possession of drugs, dealing in dagga, shoplifting, house robbery and malicious damage to property.

One such arrest was that of a man for possession of the stolen property.

“The suspect was found in possession of a mountain bike that is suspected to be stolen. The suspect was asked to produce proof of purchase but he failed to do so,” said Matumba.

She added that the suspect told the police that his mother had bought him the bicycle.

“The suspect was arrested at the abandoned building known as the Court Yard mostly known for criminal activities in Windsor West.”
