Brixton Police recover hijacked Mercedes Benz

JOBURG – Hijacked and kidnapped victim found unharmed.

The police officers of Langlaagte and Brixton police station had an eventful day on 19 March as they were tasked with bringing hijackers and kidnappers to book following a series of crimes.

Jeanette Backoff, spokesperson of the Brixton Police Station shared details on the incidents that took place. “Police received a call that a black Audi with three males hijacked and kidnapped a male driving a white Mercedes Benz. The hijacked vehicle was seen driving towards Crown Mines and Langlaagte police spotted the vehicle and a shoot-out occurred between the suspects and the police officers.”

As a result of that shoot-out, one officer was shot in the leg and taken to hospital while the hijacked vehicle evaded the scene.

The vehicle was later found by Brixton police in their policing precinct. Backoff said, “The hijacked vehicle was recovered that afternoon, abandoned in Crosby with bullet holes.”

There was also ammunition found in the vehicle. According to the police, the only thing taken from the victim and his car was a watch. Backoff stated that the owner of the vehicle was found unharmed and taken to a relative of his. A case has been opened and is under investigation by the Johannesburg Central Police Station.
