Mr and Ms Reddford brings the house down

NORTHCLIFF – Introducing to you, Mr and Ms Reddford 2019.

NORTHCLIFF – With the lights beaming down on the stage and classmates and family members flashing their phones and cameras, Reddford House Northcliff hosted their inaugural Mr and Ms Reddford.

The event, which showcased the school’s learners, musicians, dancers and overall entertainment, was enjoyed by everyone in attendance. After an evening of glitz, glamour and engagement with the contestants, Katlego Kgaudi and Angel Orugbo, walked away with the titles of Mr and Ms Reddford.

To ensure that the competition was fairly judged and the results would be credible. Reddford enlisted a five-star judges panel to make the hard decision of picking a Mr and Ms Reddford. The judge’s table consisted of Dhiren Naidoo (who has experience in consumer research and the consumer sales sector), Waydene Laing (actress and lifestyle and entertainment blogger), DJ PH, Bianca Rautenbach (Miss Intercontinental South Africa 2018) and Molemo Kgomo (volunteer at the Tshwane Baby Haven).

With the judges scoring them and their friends and family cheering them on, 12 of the school’s learners, ranging from grades 8 to 12 put on the show of a lifetime. The amazing Karen Gallinetti ensured that there was never a moment of boredom or silence through her role as the Master of Ceremonies. Contestants got to hit the runway in their casual and formal wear and thereafter got to show off their inner beauty when answering an array of questions on peer pressure, global politics, drugs, and alcohol and other issues facing young South Africans.

The Metro FM DJ and show host PH, who thoroughly enjoyed the show, explained why Kgaudi and Orugbo were ultimately chosen as the winners. He said, “Angel, that is exactly what you are. You an amazing person and all the judges loved you from the get-go. Your character, your personality, everything about you.”

He described Kgaudi as an amazing young man who can achieve anything if he continued to believe in himself. “Katlego was consistent throughout the show and the judges had no regrets about choosing you.”

PH, whose real name is PH Madubela, congratulated all the contestants and thanked them for a wonderful, entertaining and challenging experience and evening.

The pageant was viewed as a success and an additional way high schools could grow the confidence of their learners according to PH. “More high schools should do this, but only for the right reasons. One of the girls gave an answer about confidence and this boosts self-confidence. I think all kids should do it because teenagers nowadays go through so many things that us older people cannot relate to. This gives them the platform to learn about themselves and be confident with who they are.”
