Body found in Alberts Farm

Sophiatown police have confirmed that a body was discovered at Alberts Farm on 18 March.

After SCP Security was alerted about a body which was found in a ditch in Alberts Farm, they contacted the police to attend to the matter. Within minutes, police were on the scene and can confirm that the body of an elderly male was found.

Spokesperson for the Sophiatown Police Station, Captain TJ de Bruyn, said, “We were called out to the scene and upon our arrival we found the man lying in the field.”

He added that the relevant authorities were then contacted to deal with the matter.

De Bruyn said that the person was declared dead, yet the cause of death is still unknown. An inquest docket has been opened.

Police will continue to investigate the matter and provide updates as they become available.
