UJ beat Panorama FC 3–1 at away from home

PANORAMA – On to the next one as UJ cruise past Panorama Football Club.

PANORAMA – University of Johannesburg (UJ) soccer team was hoping to return to winning ways in the SAB League when they took on Panorama Football Club on 2 March, and continue their quest for a top-four finish.

And this they did with a 3–1 win to remain fourth on the log.

Fresh off a 1–1 draw against Randburg Association Football Club, UJ was hoping to further strengthen their place in the top four of the Blue Stream of the SAB League Johannesburg. Panorama Football Club, known as the Undertakers, went into the fixture off the back of a 3–2 victory away to Myeni Football Club, where SAB League debutant Tobi Idebi bagged two goals to carry the team over the line.

Panorama’s good form from the week before seemed to carry over into the clash as they started the game off positively by dominating possession, passes, and overall play for the majority of the opening exchanges. This all changed, however, when UJ took the lead against the run of play through a brilliant outside-of-the-foot shoot from outside the box that just crept in under the crossbar.

The momentum began to swing in UJ’s favour as they extended their lead not long after through a clinical finish following poor work from Panorama’s goalkeeper. In an unfortunate sequence of events, he played the ball into the path of a UJ striker who laid it off for a teammate who finished off the goal to go 2–0 ahead. The Undertakers kept UJ at bay for the remainder of the half as the game went into the break with the varsity boys leading 2–0.

Things just went from bad to worse in the second half for Panorama as within 10 minutes they found themselves three goals behind. Despite creating a number of chances as they did in the first half, Panorama couldn’t round off any plays to their advantage.

The game ended 3–1 in favour of the boys from Johannesburg and they will take this result forward with them as motivation for the upcoming fixtures.
