UPDATE: Students protest at Wits University enters day three

BRAAMFONTEIN – The university seems to be shut down this morning.

BRAAMFONTEIN – The student protest at Wits has entered its third day. Wits University’s Student Representative Council (SRC) is going into their third straight day of protesting at the university.

Students are protesting against the university for various reasons. The main demands of the students are for all returning students to be given accommodation or funding for accommodation and that all returning students with historic debt (those who owe R100 000 or less) should be registered immediately. The university has come out and stated that they cannot meet these demands while remaining financially sustainable.
