Robbery at Melville home

MELVILLE – A robbery on 21 January was reported and one of the victims sustained injuries.

 

MELVILLE – On 21 January at around 9am three suspects with pangas entered a house in Melville.

According to Jeanette Backhoff, spokesperson for Brixton Police Station, the suspects ordered the domestic worker to lay down. One of the suspects wanted to know if there was a dog on the premises and when the domestic worker said no. the suspects went on to ransack the house.

The owner was still asleep and when he heard noises in the house he woke up, grabbed a toy gun and pointed it at the suspects. One of them grabbed the toy gun and hit him with a panga in his face.

Backhoff said, “The complainant was taken to the doctor for the injuries sustained, but luckily he was not seriously injured and not admitted to hospital.

” A TV, computer, wrist watch and cell phone to the value of R35 000 were taken.”

The vehicle used during the alleged robbery was a blue VW Golf with unknown registration number. The suspects broke the main gate to gain access to the premises.

Backhoff added, “A case of house robbery was opened and anyone with information can contact Brixton Police Station on 011 248-5520/21/11.”
