Councillor’s Corner: How can I help upgrade my city?

JOBURG – Read this weeks' question in Councillor's Corner.

This week’s question was:

Can residents get involved with helping the City upgrade its infrastructure so we know we have enough resources and reliable structures to keep people safe?

Ward 101 councillor, Dalu Cele, answered:

There are a number of ways residents can assist the city to upgrade its infrastructure, such as providing input through the Integrated Development Planning (IDP).

The IDP is one of the annual mechanisms available through their respective ward councillors for residents to provide infrastructure and capital-related projects wish list to the City.

The wish list relates to what residents would like the City to consider in its budgeting process for their wards in the next three years.

Infrastructure projects such as roads, streetlights, pavements, stormwater drainage systems, recreational facilities etc., can be submitted via the Ward IDP process.

Do you have a question for a ward councillor?

As a local newspaper, the Randburg Sun provides a platform for residents to learn about, understand and follow local government.

As an extension of that, there is a weekly column called Councillor’s Corner which is a platform for you, our readers, to voice your concerns or questions for ward councillors to respond to.

Different, willing, ward councillors will respond to a question each week.

E-mail your burning question to: aimeed@caxton.co.za and let’s get the ball rolling.
