Lindenpark night market attracts many

LINDEN – The church's first night market is a huge success.

Central Road was packed with eager night market goers on 25 May.

From model trains, clothing and art to mini doughnuts, hamburgers and pancakes, the market brought together food lovers and families from all corners of the area.

Lindenpark NG Church’s administrator and co-organiser of the market, Ronél Fourie, said this was the first night market held at the church.

“We usually have a bazaar in August every year and this was a way to fund the bazaar,” she said. “But we were shocked by the turnout, we did not expect so many people.”

Fourie said that the church decided if it could attract 15 exhibitors, it would go ahead with the market. “But we ended up having 40.”

The market was also to introduce the community to the facilities the church offers and the coffee shop that’s open every day. Fourie said they also want people to know about the Lindenpark NG church.

By 8pm about 500 people had entered the market, enjoying music from various artists, including Hoërskool Linden’s own band.

Altogether, it was a resounding success, and hopefully not the last.
