Fairland police crime prevention campaign a great success

FAIRLAND – Residents attend the Fairland Police Crime Prevention Campaign.

The Fairland Police hosted its informative Crime Prevention Campaign at Spar, along Smit Street.

Fairland Police Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Clive De Freitas said this is the third campaign hosted this year and the response from the community has been great.

Residents engage with members of the CPF.

Beagle Watch Armed Response and Pam Golding Properties, who sponsored two gazebos for the event, members of the police, Fairland CPF and residents all attended.

“A number of residents showed up to ask questions about what’s taking place in the community, which is always positive. We aim to assist them in any way possible and address their concerns. For this event, we did more marketing on social media and handed out pamphlets to residents,” De Freitas said.

He added the police are still actively raising awareness about the CPF, which continues to grow in numbers. So far there are over 300 members in their WhatsApp group and due to the growth, a second group will be started.

The CPF exchanges useful crime tips, provides police with information and raises certain issues in the community.

“We also encourage residents who purchase CPF stickers to leave their details, so we can add them to our database and keep them informed about what’s taking place in the community.”

De Freitas would like to thank Spar for allowing them to set up for the event in front of their premises and for their assistance, Beagle Watch for handing out pamphlets and engaging with residents, and Pam Golding Properties for their sponsorship.

“I encourage and welcome members of the community, including businesses, to participate in our campaigns in any way possible. The next event will be on 12 May at the Mountain View Shopping Centre.”
