A Christmas Cantata musical extravaganza

LINDEN – The Trinity Methodist Church gave a spectacular performance to bring Christmas cheer to the community.

The Trinity Methodist Church Christmas cantata brought spiritual upliftment and joy to congregants.

The cantata tells a story through song and has been hosted at the church for more than a decade. Trinity Methodist Church pastor Brett Mordaunt said the performance was well received by congregants, who responded positively to the well-rehearsed show.

It is an event which congregants see as one of the highlights of the calendar, and is hosted twice a year, close to Easter and the beginning of December.

“Our congregants normally invite friends and family to enjoy the performance. The songs they most enjoyed were Joy to the world, O come let us adore Him and the original music for I love to tell a story,” said Mordaunt.

Congregants enjoy the annual Christmas cantata.

Besides their musical performances, the church is also involved in various fundraisers for charity organisations.

He added that they work with the Ikageng Aids Ministry, which supports children whose parents passed away from Aids, and put together food boxes for them. They also support the Orange Farm Place of Hope, and the Linden Fraternal Tshepo project.

“The project involves providing a soup kitchen and skills development project which takes place at a centre in surrounding areas. The church also supports the Chidinguele community in Mozambique, by partnering with the community’s elders to make improvements and upgrades in the area. We installed water systems, solar power and material to sow with,” said Mordaunt.

He believes it is important to give back as a congregation and as a community, and to offer as much assistance to the less fortunate as possible.
