#ICYMI: Man shot dead in Westdene hijacking

WESTDENE - The man who was a passenger in the hijacked died died as a result of his injuries.

 

A hijacking on corner Lancester Road and Aberdeen Street left one dead on 8 December.

Sophiatown Police Station spokesperson TJ De Bruyn said at about 11:15pm suspects surrounded a vehicle that was parked outside of a residence.

The driver of the vehicle was accompanied by a passenger.

“They were waiting for a friend who was in the house.”

While they waited an unknown number of suspects were standing on either side of the vehicle.

“The passenger got out of the car but was shot once in the chest.”

De Bruyn explained that the passenger died as a result of his injuries at the scene of the crime.

The driver of the vehicle was then forced into the passenger side and was driven away from the scene.

“While in the car the suspects asked the victim for money and he called one of his friends to ewallet the money to him.”

The victim was later found unharmed in Katlehong with his vehicle.

A case of murder and  hijacking has been opened at the Sophiatown Police Station.
