A round-up of Northcliff High’s 4th term cricket

NORTHCLIFF – How Northcliff High School did during the last term of the year.

Northcliff High School’s (NHS) cricket teams had a successful fourth term.

Their 1st, 2nd, U15A and U15B teams won 15 matches altogether. While the wins are a feather in the school’s cap, individual cricketers had their time to shine and racked up scores the way professional cricketers would.

1st XI cricket team highlights:

  • NHS beat St John’s College 2nd team by 266 runs
  • NHS beat Parktown Boys’ 2nd team by nine wickets
  • NHS beat Jeppe Boys’ 2nd team by 1 wicket
  • NHS beat King David Victory Park by 133 runs
  • NHS beat Dainfern College by seven wickets during the Coke T20
  • NHS beat Edenglen High School by 152 runs during the Coke T20.

 

The 1st team’s batsmen Charlie Dowling, Daniel Small, Fraser Kilian, Byron Gieske and Joshua Lamprecht stood out. Gieske scored 113 runs against King David and 50 against Edenglen.

Connor Clark, 1st team bowler, was the pick after taking three wickets against St John’s and four against Parktown.

 

2nd XI team highlights:

  • NHS beat Hyde Park High School by nine wickets in a Johnny Waite fixture
  • NHS beat Parktown Boys’ 3rd team by nine wickets.
  • NHS’s 2nd XI all-rounder, Charlie van Niekerk, scored 50 runs against St David’s Marist Inanda’s 2nd team and took a hat-trick against Parktown.

 

U15A team highlights:

  • NHS beat Fourways High School by 80 runs in a Johnny Waite fixture
  • NHS beat St John’s College U15B team by nine wickets
  • NHS beat Parktown Boys’ by 281 runs
  • NHS beat Jeppe Boys’ U15B team by eight wickets.

 

The U15A’s Daniel Tsinonis was on fire and scored 68 runs against Fourways, 52 against Queens High School and 50 against Parktown. Muhammad Dawood also shone against Parktown when he scored 115.

Bowler Rowan Chalmers had an equally good match against Parktown after taking five wickets and took another five against the Jeppe U15B team.

U15B team highlights:

  • NHS beat the U15C St John’s College team by five wickets
  • NHS beat Parktown Boys by eight wickets
  • NHS beat Jeppe Boys’ U15D team by 117 runs.
  • All-rounder Alex Delacovious took three wickets against St John’s, scored 46 runs against Parktown and bagged five wickets against Jeppe Boys.
  • U14A team highlights:
  • NHS beat Hoërskool Randburg by four wickets
  • NHS beat Mondeor High School by 294 runs in a Johnny Waite fixture
  • NHS beat Parktown Boys by 117 runs.

U14B team highlights:

  • NHS beat Parktown Boys by three wickets.

For the U14A team, Werno van Wyk cleaned up on the field. He scored 199 runs against Mondeor, 120 against Parktown Boys, 83 against Parktown Boys in a Johhny Waite fixture, 46 against Queens, 68 against Randburg and 49 against Jeppe.
