Northcliff Bowl offers free games for animal food

NORTHCLIFF – The chance for a free game of tenpin bowling

Northcliff Bowl is offering a free game of tenpin bowling for every donation brought to its alleys in aid of 4Paws .

In celebration of the launch of the new charity initiative, the staff of Northcliff Bowl played a game of their own on 22 November.

Northcliff Bowl manager, Lynn Viviers brings in the first donations.

The manager, Lynn Viviers, explained that the initiative will run until the end of January, and for every item of animal food, or every collar, blanket, bottle of tick and flea powder, or other items that may be of use to the animal welfare society entitles one person to a free game.

“One item equals one free game,” she said. If you bring 100 items, then I am prepared to offer 100 games.”

Viviers added that animals were very close to her heart, and while she has supported 4Paws in her personal capacity before, she wanted to help on a larger scale. Through the support of fellow 4Paws benefactor Candice Smith, and 4Paws member, Merinda Brits, the idea became a reality.

“Animals are like my babies,” Viviers continued.

“At one stage, I had 11 cats and two dogs, so my kitchen would wobble during feeding time. Now I just have two rescue dogs.”

She said receiving daily notices from 4Paws about the animals they had rescued that were neglected or abused broke her heart.

Depending on whether this initiative is supported by the public, Viviers hopes to make it an annual event.

During the staff game, laughs were shared aplenty as some take the sport seriously (Daniel Mhlongo plays for Central Gauteng) while others are still beginners.

Nevertheless, it was a great opportunity to have fun playing the game they work so hard to make enjoyable for others.
