Old Boys Tens rugby is back with a bang

GREENSIDE – Old Boys Tens Rugby tournament promises to be bigger than ever.

Brace yourself rugby fans, the Old Boys Tens (OBX) rugby tournament is taking place at Pirates Rugby Club on 10 and 11 November.

The tournament will include more than 30 old boy’s rugby teams in support of the Education Endowment Fund. In partnership with the Old Boys Tens, the main sponsor Stor-Age promises that the tournament will be the biggest since the inaugural event in 2014.

The tournament is expected to attract more than 700 participants to take part in more than 60 rugby games. There will also be live entertainment, music, food stalls, a beer garden and a kiddie’s play area to ensure a fun-filled weekend for the whole family.

The Education Endowment Fund aims to raise funds to donate to children in need through bursaries and assistance in non-profit educational programmes in disadvantaged communities throughout South Africa.

Founder of the Education Endowment Fund Marcel Malherbe said as they kicked off the 4th edition of the Old Boys, it was truly amazing to see South Africans come together for the sole purpose of nation-building.

“The OBX alignment with the vision of the Education Endowment Fund’s legacy of creating sustainable educational opportunity is the very calling of all 700 players, 3 000 spectators and partner of the OBX. Long may it grow and long may we ake a real difference,” said Malherbe.

Stor-Age head of sales, marketing and products Chris Oosthuizen said they were proud to support this initiative which offered more than entertainment but also an opportunity to make a difference in education within the country.
