Fast fingers Valkin

VICTORY PARK – 'This is a fantastic achievement as he was competing against university students,' – King David High School Victory Park.

A King David High School Victory Park learner competed against university students on piano and walked away with a prize for the best classical composition.

Grade 11 Ben Valkin, participated in the Atterbury National Piano Competition which was held from 24 to 27 October.

The prestigious event was naturally held at the Atterbury Theatre in Pretoria. Belinda de Villiers of the school described the competition as being of a very high calibre.

Valkin entered in the U19 age category which included university students and after three rounds of the competition he finished as one of three finalists in this category.

“This is a fantastic achievement as he was competing against university students,” De Villiers said.
