Shoddy workmanship fixed

ROOSEVELT PARK – 'Thank you for your swift intervention here Mayor Mashaba, Nicholas Lorimer and team' – resident.

The Johannesburg Road Agency is on the straight and narrow in Roosevelt Park after its employees took a turn in painting road dividing markings.

The markings on Anton van Wouw and Pieter Wenning Streets have finally been repainted and are now dead straight.

“The guys made a mistake and they fixed it not even 48 hours later. Some people say it should have been done right in the first place, which is fair, but the fact of the matter is that it was fixed almost immediately. I’ll give credit where credit is due,” Suburban Crime Prevention director, Clive Maher said.

Photographs of the skew road markings were posted on social media which were met with laughter, but Maher said shoddy workmanship really a slap in the face of residents.

He said the municipality usually does a good job in maintaining Roosevelt Park and suggested that this incident is an isolated one. He speculated that the employees didn’t use the peoper tools when they did the initial job.

“They normally put a line down and paint on the line using a template. It looks as if they didn’t have either of those,” he said.

Disciplinary action is now being taken against the team that originally painted the road for failing to follow instructions, the agency’s spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers said.

“Thank you for your swift intervention here Mayor Mashaba, Nicholas Lorimer and team,” Maher said.
