Think you’ve got talent? Enter the Heroes in Talent competition now

SOPHIATOWN – Anyone can enter and proceeds will go to a drug rehabilitation centre.

Have you got talent? The Westdene Sophiatown Residents Association (WSRA) wants you to enter its Heroes in Talent competition, which will take place on 2 September at the Sophiatown Shopping Centre outside Shoprite.

Entrants have until 26 August to enter and entry forms are available at the Sophiatown Shoprite Moneymarket counter.

Anyone can enter one of the various categories of the competition which includes dancing, singing, acting, acrobatics and more.

The judges are Abonga Mabovula of Huflo Music Productions as well as Christoff Berg and Raymond Ray of Rymstoff, an upcoming Afrikaans group. Rymstoff will also be performing on the day.

Entrants under the age of 18 are required to have parental consent and should be accompanied by an adult on the day of the competition.

“If you know of a friend or family member who has a special talent tell them about the competition,” said Philip Engelbrecht, Westdene resident and WSRA member.

The competition is being held not only to bring the community together to have fun, the WSRA believes in securing a platform and growing those who have talent but often don’t get an opportunity for it to be seen.

The competition will also be a way to raise funds for the Westville Drug and Rehabilitation Centre.

The WSRA promises that it will be a fun-filled day for the entire family. “The competition takes place on the first weekend of spring so bring friends, bring family and come and enjoy a day of entertainment featuring the Heroes in Talent entrants and a performance by Rymstoff as the cherry on top.”
