Northcliff High can’t B league they’re on top this season

NOTHCLIFF – Northcliff High School won their league and are through to the Gauteng finals.

They went, they played and they conquered the U15 netball B league.

Northcliff High School has a young netball team to be reckoned with. The team won 13 out of their 14 matches in the 2017 netball season. Their only loss was to Krugersdorp High School but even in losing, the players put up a fight.

After finishing with their league matches, the team lost two out of five matches at the Maragon Private School play-offs. Thier two losses were against Linden and Monument high schools.

It’s not over yet, because they won their league they will be playing in the Gauteng School Sport final on 5 August.

The team has gone from only winning about four matches in the previous season to having a near perfect season this year and all after new coach Nicole Grobler picked up the netball whistle at Northcliff.

Arina Viljoen, head of netball at the school said Grobler had been making changes in the sport which in the end had built up a strong U15 netball team. “The plan is for her to take the U15 side all the way up to the first team. By the time they get there, we’ll have an excellent side,” Viljoen told Northcliff Melville Times.

While going to the big final has the players excited to show what they’re made of on the court, they may encounter A league teams.

“We’d love to move up into A league but it’s also A league, you know? It’s a big challenge for us but I think the girls can hold their own, they are a very strong team,” Grobler said.

The strong team also has a strong captain and goal shooter, Tatijana Kozul, whose eye and scoring arm function like a marksman on the battlefield.

At the opposite end of the court is goal defence, Precious Emekpo, who like a formation of wolves hangs behind the team like an alpha wolf which keeps the team safe in the event of an attack.
