Elm Park village undergoes a facelift

NORTHCLIFF– Primrose Place frail care's residents are happy with the renovations done to their residency

Primrose Place frail care at Elm Park Village has undergone a complete transformation and it looks absolutely lovely. This is the first time in 31 years that this particular residency has gone through an extensive transformation.

The frail care’s new look was intended to make it look fresh and bring it up to standard with current trends for the residents. The launch was attended by various residents, organisations and service providers, on 30 June.

Matron Hanlie Eksteen, resident Mike Oates and Flower Foundation CEO Johan Raubenheimer cut a ribbon at the opening ceremony.

Elm Park Village’s matron, Hanlie Eksteen said, “The focus was to make residents feel at home and remove the fear of spending their last days in a place that does not feel like home. We’ve got a frail care section that has two floors, which has also been renovated.

“I encourage people who are interested in Elm Park to contact me to make an appointment or any other staff member who will welcome you and show you what we have to offer,” said Eksteen.

The renovations took two months to complete. During that time new wooden flooring, LED lighting, new entrance doors, fresh paint and the overall aesthetics of the frail care section was included in the renovations.

Elm Park Village resident, Patricia Tromp who is fondly known as ‘Patsy’ said she has been a resident since 1986. She and her husband were two of the first residents.

“The renovations look absolutely lovely, although I’d prefer the colour of the walls in my favourite colour pink. Since I’ve been a resident I’ve most enjoyed the friendships I’ve formed with other residents,” said Tromp.
