The Sophiatown Police Station conducted a drug operation in their precinct on 22 June and one alleged drug dealer was arrested.
According to TJ Steyn, spokesperson for the station, police followed up on a tip-off from the community which led them to Westbury, a community plagued by drugs and crime.

He said a man aged 32 was arrested for dealing in drugs. Police confiscated drugs found in the oven at his home with a street value of R32 000. Steyn could not confirm to the Northcliff Melville Times what kind of drugs were found as it was still being investigated.
“More of these operations will be conducted to ensure a safer environment for all,” Steyn said.
