Top comedians come to Greenside

GREENSIDE – Two local comedians will participate in a unique live interview.

Two local comedians will be placed in the hot seat in a unique display of stand-up comedy.

Linden’s Deep Fried Man and Vittorio Leonardi from Randburg will take part in a live show which combines stand-up comedy and an interview, with fun games thrown in between.

The concept is that of comedian Warren Robertson who aims to take some of SA’s most brilliant comedians on a unique journey with The Award Winning Podcast, which has been on at the Rim and Rubber in Greenside since March.

“I think it’s a great concept. For people who love comedy, it’s a way of getting to know their comedians in a way you never could from a regular comedy show. It’s intimate and funny but with a touch of sincerity too. I’m just going to be myself and answer Warren’s crazy questions and then, of course, I’ll sing a few songs afterwards,” said Deep Fried Man.

Recorded live, the concept of the show sees Robertson interviewing the comedians, asking questions they have never heard, playing games they’ve never played and generally forcing them out of their comfort zones for 30 minutes.

The live shows also feature 15 minutes of stand-up comedy by each guest as well as Robertson’s unique take on the past week’s news and events.

Deep Fried Man will kick start the long weekend with his act on 13 April, while Leonardi will grace the stage on 20 April.

Deep Fried Man is a musical comedian, writer and satirist with his own quirky, unique style of performance.

He has performed at many of South Africa’s biggest comedy events, won multiple awards, appeared in a host of TV shows and films and was a permanent cast member on multiple Emmy-nominated satirical news show Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola for seven seasons.

Vittorio Leonardi has tried to show audiences a new way to see the world – slightly skewed, a bit quirky and governed by cartoon law.

This Italian-born comic takes the world, turns it sideways and gets us to see it as we could be if we’d all just reach behind our backs, pull out a cream pie, throw it and learn to laugh.

Having started his stand-up career over 15 years ago, he is an accomplished improv comedian and has several awards and nominations under his belt, including being nominated for Comic of the Year 2011 at the Comics Choice Awards.
