Laaities play big

FAIRLAND – Small sports players show their huge determination.

Young sports stars brought their best to a friendly fixture at Laerskool Fairland and showed that although they were small in stature, they lacked nothing when it came to energy and competitiveness.

The netball courts were abuzz as lively Laerskool Wierdapark girls took on Fairland’s best, at the same time as Laerskool Helderkruin tested the local school’s mettle in rugby.

Games were held across the age spectrum, with up to three teams from each age group having a chance to participate.

“The day was definitely a success regarding the competitiveness and the quality of the matches that took place,” said Fairland’s sports manager, Ruan Basson.

“Every game was played in good spirit. It’s all about exposing youngsters to competitive sport and nursing a love for being active.”
