Man gunned down in Westbury

WESTBURY – Police find 31 cartridges after shooting victim is declared dead.

Police are on the lookout for two suspects after a shooting that led to the death of a 33-year-old man in Westbury.

Sophiatown Police Station’s Lieutenant Colonel Julia Claassen said that on 2 December police responded to a complaint about a shooting on the corner of Hay Avenue and Philip Bandes Street and were told that the shooting victim had already been taken to hospital where he was declared dead.

According to Claassen, 31 cartridges were recovered at the scene of the crime. She explained that a murder case had been opened and was currently being investigated by the Johannesburg Central Cluster investigation task team.

Claassen appealed to residents to contact them should they have any relevant information on the shooting.
