R 100 000 drug bust in Sophiatown

SOPHIATOWN – Three suspects on charges of dealing in drugs.

Three suspects appeared in Newlands Magistrates’ Court on 17 November after being arrested on charges of dealing in drugs.
Lieutenant Colonel Julia Classen of Sophiatown Police Station said the suspects were searched and found with drugs to the value of R100 000 after Metro police officials were patrolling the area on 16 November.
“On 16 November at about 11.30am, while the officials were on Main Road in Sophiatown, they spotted a Red VW Polo with three occupants that appeared very suspicious,” said Classen.
She added that officers pulled the car over and, upon searching it, they allegedly found a bag containing money to the amount of R13 750 as well as two bags that contained crystal meth with a street value of about R100 000.
The two men and one female aged between 21 and 40 were arrested, and remanded in custody after their appearance in court.
