Veldt set alight by burglars
WESTDENE – Neighbours were alarmed when a property's yard was set alight by burglars who fled the scene.
A property’s yard was set alight in the early hours of Friday morning, on 23 September, after burglars broke into a house in Westdene through the garage.
They then fled to an adjacent abandoned property.
Residents group, Westdene Johannesburg Crow co-ordinator Frikkie Botes said the robbers then set the veldt alight close to the house, and the fire brigade was called to the scene.
“I was notified about the fire on the Westdene Johannesburg Crow WhatsApp group and made my way to the property that was robbed. Upon arrival, a neighbour explained and showed me what exactly happened,” said Botes.
