WATCH: 14 occupants survive a terrible accident
Paramedics come to the aid of occupants who were involved in an accident on Beyers Naudé.
A taxi with 14 occupants overturned at Beyers Naudé Drive and Preller Drive in Roosevelt Park earlier this afternoon.
It is understood that the taxi went up an embankment, hit a tree and rolled over. ER24 spokesperson, Chitra Harduth said paramedics and other services attended to the incident. “Upon arrival, paramedics found patients scattered across the scene.”
Further assessments showed that the patients, including the driver, sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Harduth explained that 12 patients were treated and transported to various hospitals for further medical care.
She added that two people declined hospital treatment and that the exact cause of the incident is unknown.
Authorities were on scene for further investigations and traffic was heavily affected.
