BOSMONT – Husband identifies body in Bosmont park as his wife.

A woman’s body was found half naked and partially burnt in a park in the suburb.

The body was found on 12 September at about 12.44pm. The police identified the victim as the 50-year-old Angeline Smit, who went missing from her home in Westbury on 27 August.

According to Sophiatown Police corporate communications officer, Lieutenant Colonel Julia Claassen, the Sophiatown Police responded to a call received from a community member about the body in the park.

“Upon arrival at the park, the police found the body that was then identified by the victim’s husband,” said Claassen. She said an autopsy was conducted to determine the cause of death.

The Sophiatown Police are currently investigating a murder case. “Anybody that can assist the police with information regarding the incident can call the Sophiatown Police on 011 670 6300 or the crime-stop number on 08600 10111,” said Lt Col Claassen.
