Toddler amongst nine passengers injured in taxi crash

LINDEN – The exact cause of the collision is still being investigated.

Nine passengers, including a toddler, were injured when a taxi crashed into a light pole on 4th Avenue today.

“ER24 paramedics, along with other emergency services, arrived on the scene and found the taxi parked on the side of the road a few feet away from a bent light pole,” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring. He added that several occupants from the taxi were found seated on the grass.

Meiring said on assessment, the paramedics found that nine passengers of the taxi, including a toddler, had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. “Fortunately, no serious or fatal injuries were reported,” he added.

He said the patients were treated on the scene for their injuries and then transported to various provincial hospitals for further treatment. “The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations,” he concluded.
