Popular trail run coming up

HONEYDEW – Upcoming trail run will test runners' strength, but also provide a fun day out in nature.

For the nature lover and enthusiastic marathon runner, 14 August is a must in their diary.

The Scrub Hare Trail Run forms part of the Rabbit Series of My Road Less Travelled. Organiser of the run, Nina Durieux of Honeydew said that this trail is the easiest run as it does not have any mountains, but a lot of koppies. The run will take place at the Leeuwenkloof Echo Adventures in Broederstroom.

Just 45 minutes from Joburg, this savanna bushveld land is part of the Cradle of Humankind, only 7km from Hartebeespoort Dam.

Durieux explained that the run will take runners through beautiful forest sections and picturesque landscape. The 20km run is more technical and for the more experienced runner, 12km is the easier run and the 5km run is for the whole family. “Children could also take part in the 5km run,” said Durieux.

She added that trail running is very beneficial for your body as you are outdoors and the trails take you through more challenges than road running.

People who would like to take part in the run can go on to www.myroadlesstravelled.co.za to enter online and pay via EFT: R190 for the 20km run, R90 for the 12km run and R45 for the 5km run.
