Man survives hijacking

AUCKLAND PARK – Three armed men hijack a resident late at night.

Police are still on the lookout for three armed men who hijacked a man in the suburb over the weekend and dumped him in Kathlehong where he was found by a patrolling police vehicle.

Brixton police spokesperson, Jeanette Backhoff said, “The incident took place at 11pm on the corner of Cookham Road and Kingston Avenue.” She explained that the three armed men who were driving in a Corsa cut off the man who was driving a Mercedes-Benz. After the suspects robbed him of his credit cards and pin numbers they drove him all the way to Katlehong.

According to Backhoff, the police have not made any arrests yet. “The man was not harmed,” she said.

Backhoff reminded the public to be aware of their surroundings at all times, especially when they are driving late at night. “Avoid parking in quiet streets where there are no street lights,” she said.

She warned people never to stop if someone in an unmarked vehicle is following you. If this happens, you should drive to your nearest police station and report the incident.

“Keep your vehicle doors and windows locked at all times,” said Backhoff. “If you suspect that you are being followed, you should phone the police from you cell phone. Do not stop until you arrive at the police station.”
