Little drummers unite!

NORTHCLIFF – Opti-Baby nursery school invites moms to drum the day away with their children.

Opti-Baby nursery school recently had moms and children marching to the beat of their own drums.

The nursery school had their annual Mommy Day where moms could get a sneak peek into their children’s lives away from home.

The day started with a team from Drumming SA  helping the moms and little ones relax and forget about their daily hassles with an interactive drumming session. “Mom and child were able to drum cohesively on the different rhythms introduced by Drumming SA’s team,” said the school’s manager and owner, Marita Louw.

She jokingly encouraged the moms to rid themselves of all their frustrations and built-up emotions by playing those drums. “This was the perfect opportunity for them to do so and they did a good job,” she said.

After the drumming session, the moms spent time in the classrooms to see what the children learn and do on a daily basis. “They learned more about the weekly theme ‘Land Transport’ and sang songs, read stories and did perceptual activities,” explained Louw.

The moms also helped their children make a special soccer card for the dads for Fathers’ Day and a set of soccer chocolates was included for the fathers.

The thumping day also included a picnic on the playground which was the cherry on top after a splendid morning at school. “The moms got the opportunity to mingle with other moms and to spend quality time with their children at school,” concluded Louw.
