Driver arrested after 10 people are injured in accident

ROODEPOORT – Driver is found without driver's licence and licence disk.

At least ten people have been injured after a Toyota Venture collided with a light motor vehicle on the N1 North near 14th Avenue in Roodepoort.

According to Netcare911 media liaison officer Athlenda Mathe, four people sustained moderate injuries while six people sustained minor injuries in the accident at around 6.20am on 30 May.

“When Netcare911 paramedics arrived on scene, we found that the Toyota Venture had overturned. The exact detail to the cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation and comment,” Mathe said.

“Netcare911 paramedics worked alongside various emergency services on scene to treat the injured.”

The patients were treated by paramedics on scene and then transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

Mathe added that the driver of the Toyota Venture has been arrested for driving without a driver’s licence and licence disk on the vehicle.
