Fuel Road closure and alternate routes

WESTBURY – Residents are warned of a temporary road closure.

The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) warned residents of a planned closure of Fuel Road that will last about two weeks.

JDA’s marketing director, Susan Monyai said that the closure is for the implementation of Non-Motorised Transport (NMT) in the Westbury precinct along the Corridors of Freedom.

“As the JDA proceeds with implementation of the Westbury Pedestrian Bridge, motorists and the public are hereby advised of the temporary closure of Fuel Road to accommodate construction works,” said Monyai.

The road closures will take place between 7pm and 5am on these dates:

• 28 May and 29 May

• 29 May and 30 May

• 4 June and 5 June

• 5 June and 6 June

 

Alternative routes are as follows:

Eastbound traffic on Fuel Road could make use of alternate routes as follows:

• Right into Oudtshoorn Street;

• Left into Pinelands Street or left into Plumbstead Street;

• Right into Wynberg Street;

• Left into Lansdowne Street;

• Right into Klaver Street;

• Left into Harmony Street;

• Right into Fuel Road, after the construction works.

Or

• Left into Steytler Road;

• Right into Ruben Avenue;

• Right into Kretzschmar Street;

• Left into Percy Peffer Street;

• Right into Phillip Bandes Street;

• Right into Hay Avenue;

• Left into Fuel Road, after the construction works.

 

Westbound traffic on Fuel Road could make use of alternate routes as follows:

• Left into Harmony Street;

• Right into Klaver Street;

• Left into Lansdowne Street;

• Right into Wynberg Street;

• Left into Plumbstead Street;

• Right into Pinelands Street;

• Right into Oudtshoorn Street;

• Left into Fuel Road, after the construction works.

Or

• Right into Hay Avenue;

• Left into Phillip Bandes Street;

• Left into Percy Peffer Street;

• Right into Kretzschmar Street;

• Left into Ruben Avenue;

• Left into Steytler Road;

• Right into Fuel Road, after the construction works.

 

Monyai concluded that the JDA would like to thank the public for their continued patience during the construction and asked motorists to be patient and to exercise caution when on the road.
