Street name in Northcliff spelt incorrectly

NORTHCLIFF – JRA says spelling errors happen from time to time and it will be rectified.

Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) recently repainted a street name in Northcliff and it was incorrectly spelt.

Weltevreden Road was misspelt as Waltervreden at the corner of Weltevreden and Badenhorst roads. Community members took to Facebook to express their disappointment. Some community members also expressed how other spelling errors were made in other suburbs.

(JRA) spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers said that it was the responsibility of the JRA and that it does happen from time to time due to human error. “We endeavour to minimise these mistakes through training and supervision as well as quality assurance, which is undertaken through a separate JRA unit,” said Peters-Scheepers.

“We sincerely apologise for the error and will immediately ensure that the spelling is corrected. We do thank the community for bringing this matter to our attention,” said Peters-Scheepers.

Ward 88 Councillor Pat Richards said that she had asked for the streets to be repainted and was not surprised by the mistake, as it does happen often. She asked JRA to correct the mistake.
