Axe gang robs father and daughter

BLAIRGOWRIE – More residents are robbed by the notorious axe gang.

Not even a week has passed, and the axe gang is at it again.

A father and daughter were attacked in their home at Standard Drive Blairgowrie on 9 May at about 12.30am.

Two suspects gained entry onto the property by cutting through the security gate with a saw. They then lifted the sliding door and cut through the security gate near the passage inside the house.

The daughter was woken up by an unknown man who was armed with an axe. Linden Police Captain Alex Vermaak said that the suspects switched on the lights and accompanied the woman to her father’s bedroom where they were tied up with cables.

The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of money, jewellery and a laptop. “They were in the house for two hours,” said Capt Vermaak. When they were done, the robbers were picked up in an unknown vehicle which then drove off.

Capt Vermaak added that the victims were unharmed. “I know I have said it before, but we are urging people not to forget to put their alarms on when they go to bed.”
