Casa do Sol hosts Valentine’s Day extravaganza

LINDEN – Pupils at Casa Do Sol have a fun day to celebrate Valentine's Day.

Casa Do Sol School celebrated Valentine’s Day on 12 February in their beautifully decorated hall. The Valentine’s Day event was attended by pupils and teachers.

Grade 6 teacher Lindi van Vuuren said that pupils were dressed in colorful red, white and pink outfits to go with the theme of the day.

“Every year we celebrate Valentine’s Day with the pupils where we award winners with chocolates . We have a senior and junior Mr and Miss Valentine category and a best dressed award for teachers,” said Van Vuuren.

She described how music is played for half an hour so pupils have the opportunity to dance and have fun.

“We don’t have facilities like other schools so this is a great way for them to enjoy music and have fun with each other. The criteria used to judge pupils outfits is based on the most effort put into an outfit and we ensure that everyone has a chance to win every year,” said Van Vuuren.

Senior Mr Valentine was awarded to Marvin Oketch and Miss Valentine to Noluthando Swarts. Junior Mr and Miss Valentine was awarded to Andile Ndlovu and Bobo Ndlovu. The best dressed teacher award went to Gladwin Ndaba and Sandi Butheleze.
