DSJ in top three German schools outside Germany

PARKTOWN – DSJ is in the running for the best German school abroad.

The Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg  (DSJ) has been voted one of the three best German schools in the world, outside of Germany. The prestigious award is supported by the Robert-Bosch Foundation, the Heidehof Foundation, Stern magazine and ARD (German TV).

The Deutscher Schulpreis jury observed the school from 28 January until 3 February. In the next few weeks two other schools, the Deutsche Schule Malalga and Deutsche Schule Lima, will be observed. The top two schools will be announced in mid-March. These two schools will travel to Berlin on 8 June for the prize-giving of the Deutscher Schulpreis.

“The school is honoured by this accolade. To be recognised as one of the three best German schools abroad has to be considered an achievement on its own. We certainly hope that the judges make the right decision and pick us as the winner,” said DSJ marketing and public relations manager, Savo Ceprnich.

He added that the school in Parktown “wishes to thank the German Embassy in Pretoria, the Siemens Foundation, MdP Dagmar Freitag, their partner schools in Soweto, Wits University, the Parents Representative Council, the Board of Directors, admin department, the pupils, prefects and the teaching staff.”
