Residents are welcome at Melville Koppies

MELVILLE – There are a number of small animals that live on the Koppie that residents can spot on guided tours and hikes.

The Melville Koppies Nature Reserve have a number of small nocturnal creatures that survive in the environment that would not normally survive in the surrounding city.

Sarah Kwan and Ella Kwan discovered a shy tortoise returning to his refuge at Melville Koppies. The reserve’s chairperson Wendy Carsens invited residents to participate in guided tours and hikes where you can spot animals such as mongoose, genets, hedgehogs and a scrub hare.
