The human remains found at a house in Soweto have been confirmed to be those of Palesa Madiba, a student of the University of Johannesburg, who went missing from Diepkloof three years ago.
eNCA reported on 30 December that the student’s family had come forward, and confirmed that the remains were Madiba’s. Police were yet to confirm this, as the investigation is ongoing.
The remains were found in the backyard with bricks on top of the skeleton, at the house she was last seen in.
Twitter users expressed their opinions on the matter:
This is the reason why I do not have much friends. Trust is something you can't just give anyone #PalesaMadiba

In #PalesaMadiba 's memory, for your own sake. Sit down right now evaluate your friendships. Not everyone deserves to be called your friend

What happened to #PalesaMadiba makes me understand why my gran never let us visit anyone and my mom never allowed sleep overs.

Her family is one step towards closure. Now they need to know why, who, what and when. Only then will they get closure. #PalesaMadiba
