Public broadcaster COO returns to work
AUCKLAND PARK – SABC COO returns to work after he was cleared of all charges.
South African Broadcasting Cooperation (SABC) chief operating officer (COO) Hlaudi Motsoeneng is back at work after he was acquitted of all charges.
This follows the disciplinary hearing which was held in Sandton on 12 December.
The COO was facing three charges – including lying about having a Matric certificate and the abuse of power.
He reportedly told the media that he has skills and expertise, and that he actually funds the SABC.
Last year, Public Protector Thuli Madonsela released damning findings against the SABC and Motsoeneng.
Some of the findings included the irregular appointment and salary progression of Motsoeneng.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said on 14 December that he could not give much details of the hearing however, confirmed the COO was back at work.
“We have noted and accepted the outcome of the hearing and our COO Motsoeneng is back to work,” he explained.
