GALLERY: Matric pupils donate their school shoes

NORTHCLIFF – Matric pupils do not only leave a legacy behind, but also their school shoes for the less fortunate.

Matric pupils from Northcliff High School, donated their school shoes to underprivileged children on the last day of the final Matric exams.

Lizl Thorne, media liaison of Northcliff High School, said that the school prides itself in being very involved in the community. She further said that Matric pupils donating their school shoes has been a tradition for a very long time. “We have many privileged children in our school, they need to be aware that many people are not that privileged,” she added.

“The lesson that the Matric pupils learn, is that they need to be selfless, rather than selfish,” said Thorne. The children are very proud to leave their shoes behind, knowing that it goes to children that can’t afford school shoes. Ian Wright, from a company called, SkoolShooz, donated the Matriculants shoes to SolesforSouls, which is an organisation that donates shoes to people in need. The shoes from Northcliff High School, will be donated to children in need next year.
