Pat Richards weighs the good and the bad for 2015

WARD 88 – Councillor Pat Richards examines the issues Ward 88 faced in 2015.

Festive greetings from Ward 88 Councillor Pat Richards.

This past year has brought many challenges to all of us.

  • There have been many power outages all over Ward 88, including the Roosevelt Substation blowing up three times.
  • Cable theft has been ongoing. Cables have been changed from copper to aluminium, this project is ongoing. My wish is for a new substation in 2016.
  • The past heat wave added to our challenges when the water towers ran dry.
  • Also many water leaks everywhere .
  • City Power caused many challenges with their smart meters.

There have been good projects as well. New water pipes have been laid in various suburbs.

The major project is the Emmarentia Dam wall. After requesting for 10 years, this was granted. The road over the dam wall was closed to enable the work to be done, this caused more challenges for the traffic. Olifants Road will, however be open for the festive season.

My wishes for all the residents in Ward 88 is for a stress-free, peaceful and happy time to be spent with family and friends.

Thank you to all who worked with me to solve the many challenges.
