GALLERY: Johannesburg Big Band brings back movie memories

BRYANSTON – A Johannesburg world-class big band to perform at the Lyric Theatre.

The world-class 17-piece band, Johannesburg Big Band, returns to The Lyric Theatre to perform for the At The Movies show on 25 November.

The band which is based in Bryanston, is directed by Adam Howard.

It will be joined by popular former Rhythm City soapie actress, KB Motsilanyane who is also an award-winning musician and singer and songwriter, Brandon October.

At The Movies, will feature famous movie themes with songs that will instantly take audiences back into the movie theatre.

Howard said they will be playing music from golden oldies such as Casablanca and The Sound Of Music to blockbusters like Rocky, Superman and Star Wars.

Motsilanyane and October, will take audiences down memory lane,singing unforgettable movie songs such as Beauty and the Beast, Unchained Melody, Son of a Preacher Man and Fame.

“Our concerts have been such a success over the last two years at The Lyric Theatre, so we were thrilled to be asked to stage another one,” said Collett Dawson, the executive producer of The CoLab Network.

The band which was formed in 2011, is a collection of the finest jazz and session musicians in South Africa.

It has an ongoing vision to bring back the unique big-band sound to Jozi life.
